Anaheim & Buena Park mean one thing: Disneyland! This theme-park city is shining bright after a multi-billion-dollar revamp, and is home to Disneyland, Disney's California Adventure and Downtown Disney. Walt Disney opened Disneyland in 1955, and half a century later the crowds are bigger than ever. So come on down to buddy up with Mickey and Minnie!
In recent years the city has continued to grow and grow. More particularly, it has finally been able to bring about the redevelopment of the downtown area. It's clear that, though it may already have come a long way, Anaheim intends to keep on going.

Best of Anaheim & Buena Park: Suggested Itineraries
Los Angeles is an easy trip from Anaheim, so take the Grand LA Tour. You'll see the Chinese Theatre, the Walk of Fame and celebrity homes and hangouts of Beverly Hills. Combine shopping and celebrity spotting on a Movie Stars' Homes & Shopping Tour, or scour Santee Alley and Anaheim's Citadel Outlets on a La Shopping Extravaganza. San Diego is kinda just down the road too, with the Sumatran tigers, Malayan tapirs, Chinese water dragons and web-footed fishing cats of San Diego Zoo don't-miss highlights. Of course, SeaWorld San Diego is the home of killer whales, sharks and dolphins doing all kinds of tricks. Or head further afield on a two-day Grand Canyon Tour, including a breathtaking West Rim air tour.

This part of the country is theme park central! Closest to home is Knott's Berry Farm, filled with adrenaline-pumping rides and wild adventures for the whole family. Get soaked at Knott's Soak City, with thrilling wave rides inspired by the beach and surf towns of the 1950s Southern California coast. We're talking tallest and fastest roller coasters with Six Flags Magic Mountain in the San Fernando Valley, and great family fun at Legoland California. The fun doesn't stop at sundown - be swept away by pirates aboard a Spanish galleon on a Pirates Dinner Adventure, with action, comedy, pyrotechnics and a swashbuckling dinner. Knott's Berry Farm Resort Hotel
Say "good night, " not "good grief, " in a Snoopy-themed room at this nine-story hotel bordering Knott's Berry Farm and its beloved Camp Snoopy. In fact, while your kids are hugging the beagle, you'll be hugging yourself for finding a low-cost room in Anaheim that's not too far from that other park.
This spacious old California mission-style complex wears country club airs, with trams whisking guests past an on-site restaurant, two pools and spa. In fact, at first glance, it seems you'd never need (or want) to leave this self-contained upscale retreat. But then you catch Disney's California Adventure flirting just across the street, and you're off for a day of adventure!
Connoisseurs of kitsch will hug their Hummels at the sight of this alpine chalet (er, motel) that's covered to the top of its A-framed rafters with faux-snow and imagineered icicles. And how can you argue when it's only 100 yards to the South Entrance of Disneyland?
Best of Anaheim & Buena Park: Top Restaurants
The theme here is Mediterranean and the ambiance is lively, in the heart of the action of downtown Disneyland. Relax at the laidback Uva Bar, or opt for more formal dining at Catal, upstairs, specializing in grilled seafood and meat.
Excellent Indian fare is the specialty at Shehnai, in the Anaheim hills. Choose a booth or table and order up a feast of balti lamb, chicken tikka masala and other favorites, accompanied by garlic naan breads and other ingredients that make up a fine subcontinental meal.
Come to El Torito for authentic Mexican cuisine, happy hour margaritas, fajitas, tamales, enchiladas and tacos, as well as traditional Mexican combination platters. Olé!
Suggested Itineraries: Anaheim & Buena Park
Anaheim was settled more than a century ago by German immigrants who came to grow grapes and make wine. The wine industry collapsed in the late 1880s after a blight wiped out the vineyards, but the persistent settlers swtiched from wine to juice, planted oranges, and kept on making money.
The whole area was changed forever in 1955 when Walt Disney first welcomed visitors to his cartoon theme fun park, Disneyland.
